WinRed Integration for Campaign Finance Software

If your campaign raises money through WinRed, you already have a donation flow that works. What the WinRed integration with ISPolitical adds is simple: every transaction WinRed processes flows directly into your ISPolitical account via API, without any action on your part.

No CSV exports. No data lag before a filing. No re-entering contribution details that WinRed already captured.

For a treasurer managing WinRed alongside FEC compliance obligations, that connection changes the day-to-day significantly. The data you need for your reports is already in the system.

What Syncs Automatically

When a donation comes through WinRed, ISPolitical fundraising software receives the transaction record via API. Here’s what flows in automatically:

  • Donor name and address
  • Employer and occupation: WinRed passes these fields when provided by the donor; ISPolitical’s ai@ISP tool can follow up with donors automatically if either field is missing
  • Contribution amount and date
  • Earmark and conduit data: ISP includes a dedicated “Record WinRed Conduit Check” function to handle these correctly at deposit

Recurring monthly donations also come through each month as WinRed processes them. ISPolitical doesn’t pre-enter recurring gifts, because they sometimes fail or cancel. You get the record when the transaction actually happens, not before.

What Manual Entry Is Eliminated

Without a WinRed data sync, a treasurer’s workflow goes something like this: log in to WinRed, export a transaction file, format it, import it into your campaign finance software, check for errors, deposit batch, add splits, and then start reconciling. If you fall behind a few days, the backlog builds fast.

With the integration active, that entire workflow is gone. Every field that syncs automatically is a field that cannot be mistyped. Donor occupation that’s been entered incorrectly is one of the most common sources of FEC deficiency letters. Employer data that’s inconsistent across multiple manual entries creates itemization problems that take minutes to clean up.

For campaign treasurers running high-volume WinRed donation tracking across multiple contribution sources, eliminating that error surface is meaningful, not just for efficiency but for compliance accuracy.

How It Supports FEC Compliance

WinRed FEC reporting gets cleaner when the data lives inside your compliance software rather than in a separate export file you reconcile against.

Because WinRed contributions flow directly into ISPolitical, they land in the same system you use to file. Through ISP’s Auto-Import settings, you can predetermine how transactions are categorized. Budget category, election, financial account, and reporting code are all configurable. Once those settings are in place, every WinRed contribution that comes in is handled consistently, without manual intervention.

WinRed campaign finance data is treated the same as any other receipt in ISP, which means it counts toward itemization thresholds, appears in your financial reports, and is ready to pull into your FEC filings without a separate reconciliation step. ISP’s FEC deadline tracking and over-limit alerts apply to it from the moment it lands.

When a filing deadline arrives, the data is already there, already in the right buckets.

ISPolitical Works With Both WinRed and ActBlue

ISPolitical is non-partisan and connects to both WinRed and ActBlue. For Republican campaigns and WinRed fundraising platform users, the integration works exactly as described on this page. For Democratic campaigns using ActBlue, there’s an equivalent integration. For non-partisan committees or consulting firms managing clients in both platforms, ISPolitical handles both without requiring separate systems or different workflows.

Most campaign finance software picks a side. ISPolitical earns your business by providing the best software and service instead of abusing your party loyalty. Your fundraising platform doesn’t dictate your compliance software.

Built by People Who’ve Been There

ISPolitical’s compliance team developed this integration out of direct experience managing WinRed-heavy campaign treasuries. They’ve worked against the same deadlines you’re up against.

Frequently Asked Questions About WinRed Integration

What is WinRed, and how does WinRed work for Republican campaigns?

WinRed is a conservative-only processing platform. Campaigns create donation pages on WinRed, and contributors give directly through those pages using saved payment information or standard card entry. WinRed then transmits the full contribution record, including donor contact information, employer, occupation, amount, and date, to integrated software, such as ISPolitical via API.

Does the WinRed integration handle conduit and earmark contributions?

Yes. ISPolitical includes a dedicated “Record WinRed Conduit Check” function for earmarked contributions that come through WinRed. When conduit contributions appear in Pending Imports, you can select them on the Deposit screen and generate the conduit check directly in ISP. The contributing entities are recorded as splits, and the transaction tag is automatically populated as Conduit — Conduit Check.

Can I import WinRed donations that came in before I set up the integration?

Not through the live integration. WinRed only sends transactions that occur after the integration is activated. For historical data, ISPolitical’s Quick Import tool supports the WinRed Online Donations format, which lets you export a transaction file from WinRed and bring it in cleanly, including conduit handling and fee breakdowns. Contact support if you need help with a historical import.

How quickly do WinRed donations appear in ISPolitical?

The integration runs via API and syncs in minutes. As soon as WinRed processes a transaction, that data appears in your ISPolitical account in Pending Imports on your dashboard. No batch uploads, no scheduled pulls.

Does ISPolitical support WinRed data for state-level filings, not just FEC?

Yes. Contributions that come in through the WinRed integration are available for state-level compliance reports within ISPolitical, not only federal FEC reports. ISPolitical supports hundreds of filing jurisdictions, so if you’re running a state campaign that uses WinRed as its fundraising platform, that data flows directly into whichever compliance reports apply to your committee.

How are WinRed processing fees handled in ISPolitical?

WinRed fees are not included in the live integration data. They need to be recorded as a separate step at the time of deposit. ISPolitical supports two approaches: you can reduce the contribution amount to reflect the net payout you received, or record the full contribution and then add a separate expense to WinRed Technical Services using the “Add Deducted Fees” button on the deposit screen. ISP recommends the second method because it more accurately reflects what occurred, though most filing agencies accept either approach. The key is consistency. All WinRed transactions should be associated with the same entity so aggregates calculate correctly for itemization.

What happens if a WinRed recurring donation fails or is canceled?

ISPolitical only receives what WinRed processes. Recurring donations are not pre-entered into ISP in advance. If a monthly recurring gift fails or a donor cancels, there’s no erroneous entry to correct on your end. Each month’s successful transaction comes over when it’s confirmed by WinRed.
