Oregon campaign treasurers are required to report every contribution and expenditure through ORESTAR, Oregon’s state-mandated e-filing system. Without dedicated software, that means generating a report from your records, formatting it to ORESTAR’s XML specifications, uploading the file, and hoping it clears validation. When it doesn’t, you troubleshoot the error and try again.
ISPolitical is ORESTAR compliance software built to shorten that cycle: it generates a correctly formatted XML file directly from your campaign records and flags errors. You still upload your ORESTAR Oregon campaign finance file to Oregon’s system directly — ISPolitical takes care of everything up to that point.

ISPolitical generates ORESTAR-formatted XML compliance reports automatically from the transaction data in your account. Before you download and upload to ORESTAR, the compliance engine checks the report for errors and warnings. You work through any flagged issues inside ISPolitical, then download a clean file built to ORESTAR’s XML specifications. The result is a file that passes validation rather than triggering the “Invalid XML File” error that sends you back to the start.
All Oregon filing history is stored in ISPolitical alongside the rest of your campaign records. You can see what was filed, review the report, and rerun it if an amendment is needed.
ORESTAR e-filing is not a standard file upload that accepts any export format. Oregon’s system validates every uploaded file against defined XML specifications, and a file that doesn’t meet those specs is rejected at submission. ISPolitical’s compliance engine is built to those requirements. The output is an XML file formatted to Oregon’s standards.
That distinction matters. A rejected ORESTAR filing discovered near a transaction deadline creates real pressure, particularly during Oregon’s accelerated 7-day reporting window in the 42 days leading up to an election. Catching formatting issues before the upload eliminates that risk.
Oregon federal campaigns frequently carry dual filing obligations: compliance reports for Oregon’s ORESTAR system and separate reports for the FEC. ISPolitical handles both within a single platform. Your Oregon and federal records are built from the same underlying transaction data, so there is no need to maintain parallel books or reconcile two separate systems. A contribution entered once is mapped correctly to each report.

ISPolitical’s team of experts has been building and maintaining political campaign finance software since 1999, working directly with state filing requirements across hundreds of jurisdictions. That history matters for Oregon filers: the ORESTAR configuration in ISPolitical reflects direct, hands-on familiarity with how Oregon’s system works and what it requires. The platform is built by people who have used it, which is why ISPolitical is trusted by treasurers who file in Oregon and across the country.
ISPolitical supports campaign finance filing across dozens of states, and the same platform that handles ORESTAR integration manages those jurisdictions, as well. ISPolitical also integrates with the fundraising platforms Oregon campaigns commonly use, including WinRed and ActBlue, so contribution data flows into your compliance records without manual entry.

Oregon does not use scheduled reporting periods. ORESTAR operates on a continuous reporting model: each transaction is filed individually as it occurs, due within 30 calendar days of the transaction date. During the 42 days before an election, that window compresses to 7 calendar days. Oregon filers report on a rolling basis throughout the year, with faster turnaround required as Election Day approaches. Transactions are due by 11:59 PM on the day they are due.
Oregon requires itemized disclosure (name, address, occupation, and employer) for any contributor whose aggregate contributions to the committee exceed $100 in a calendar year. This threshold is lower than the FEC’s $200-per-election itemization requirement, which matters for campaigns filing with both agencies. Because ISPolitical manages both Oregon and federal records from the same transaction data, it applies the correct itemization rules for each report separately.
Mandatory ORESTAR e-filing applies to committees that expect to receive or spend more than $5,000 in a calendar year. Once a committee crosses that threshold at any point during the year, all transactions for that calendar year must be filed electronically through ORESTAR, and any outstanding transactions are due within seven days of crossing the threshold. Committees with less than $5,000 may file on paper, but in practice, most active candidate committees and PACs exceed that threshold quickly. ISPolitical’s ORESTAR e-filing support is available to any committee using the platform.
