What Is the Spark Mobile App?

Spark is the ISP mobile app that lets you ask questions about your data and get answers on your phone. No menus to hunt through and no desktop needed. You just type a question the way you would ask a coworker, and Spark answers from your live ISP data.

In the app, you chat with Sparky, and answers come straight from your live ISP data.

Spark works on iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. Apple devices need iOS or iPadOS 15 or later.

What can I ask Spark?

Spark is built for the quick questions you have when you are away from your desk, like:

What is my cash on hand?

How much was received in donations last week?

Has a specific donor contributed yet?

What contact information do we have for a person?

Ask the way you would ask a coworker. You do not need exact field names or report titles.

How do I add Spark to my Tools menu?

  1. Go to the Tools tab.

  2. Click Add/Remove Apps.

  3. Search for Spark App and install it.

Spark Mobile App now appears in your Tools menu.

If you work in more than one account, install it in each account where you want to use Spark.

How do I turn on access?

  1. Go to Tools > Spark Mobile App.

  2. Under My Accounts, set each account that should use Spark to Enabled.

  3. In the users list below, set each person who should use Spark to Enabled.

The users list shows the users for the account you are currently in; repeat this for each account.

The Spark Access panel at the top will still show “Spark is not enabled” until a device is connected. That is expected.

How do I install Spark on my phone or iPad?

Finish the steps above first because the authorization code is only valid for 5 minutes.

  1. Click Generate Token at the bottom of the Spark Mobile App page.

  2. ISP sends a text with install instructions to the mobile number on file for your user. Follow it to install Spark.

  3. Return to the Spark Mobile App page in ISP, where a six-digit authorization code is now displayed.

  4. Open Spark, enter that code in the Token field, and tap Sign In.

Spark Access will then read Spark has been enabled.

If installation takes longer than 5 minutes, click Generate Token again to get a new code.

What if there is no mobile number on file, or I want Spark on my iPad?

The text only goes to the mobile number saved for your user, and an iPad will not receive it at all. In either case, install the app yourself:

  1. Open the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store on the device you want to use.

  2. Search for Spark by ISPolitical and install it.

  3. In ISP, go to Tools > Spark Mobile App and click Generate Token.

  4. Enter the six-digit code in the Token field in Spark and tap Sign In.

How does someone else on my team get Spark?

Spark is set up per person, because the authorization code is texted to the mobile number on that user’s own record.

  1. In Tools > Spark Mobile App, set that person to Enabled in each account they should reach.

  2. That person logs in to ISP and goes to Tools > Spark Mobile App.

  3. They click Generate Token and follow the install and code steps above.

Each person installs Spark on their own device and signs in with their own code. Codes are not shared.

Do I need a new code when I change my settings?

No. Enable an account or a user any time, and Spark picks it up on its own. You generate a token only when setting up a device.

Why do I enter a code instead of my password?

Spark does not ask for your ISP password. Access is granted by a token you generate inside ISP, so the app can only be connected by someone already signed in to your account. The code expires quickly, which keeps a stray text from becoming a way in.

What if my code expires?

Go back to Tools > Spark Mobile App and click Generate Token again. You will get a new code, and you have five minutes to enter it.

Will Spark know everything?

Not yet. Spark is new and focused on a defined set of high-value questions right now, with more on the way. If you ask something it cannot answer, that feedback shapes what gets built next, so tell us what you were trying to find out.
