One of the many Financial reports you can generate is the Budget Category Report. This report allows you to view Count and Amount information for Budget Categories in use in your database.
Budget Categories are used to organize transactions for internal budgeting and financial tracking. The Budget Category Report can help you review how much money is tied to each Budget Category during a selected date range.
In the Search section, you can choose the criteria for the report, including the date range and other available filters. These options allow you to narrow or broaden the report results based on the information you need to review.
If your transactions include split transactions, you can use the Include Splits option to include Budget Categories assigned to those splits in the report totals.
Use Include Splits when a transaction has one or more splits with Budget Categories that are different from the main transaction’s Budget Category. When Include Splits is selected, the report adjusts the main transaction’s Budget Category total and separately reflects the split amount under the split’s Budget Category.
For example, if a $500 transaction is assigned to Category A and includes a $100 split assigned to Category B, selecting Include Splits will show:
Category A: $400
Category B: $100
If Include Splits is not selected, the full $500 will remain under Category A.
The report will continue to use the date from the main transaction.
After you’ve chosen the criteria for the report, generate the report to review the Budget Category totals. The results can help you identify how transactions are categorized and whether any Budget Categories need additional review.
