How Do I Record Inkind Made Transactions?
When recording an inkind made in ISPolitical, it’s a question of whether you’re paying money or giving a service or good you already have in support (or opposition) of another committee.
If your committee pays for something on behalf of another committee, you’d want to record that in your database as an Expense with Support/Oppose Memo.
If your committee gave something your committee already had to another committee, you’d want to record that in your database as a Non-Monetary Expense with Support/Oppose Memo.
Below are examples of when and why to use the different options.
Expense with Support/Oppose: My committee will buy these yard sign stakes for your committee. My committee records this as an expense in support of your committee.
Non-Monetary Expense: My committee gives you these extra yard sign stakes that we already had. My committee records a non-monetary expense in support of your committee, as no money was spent specifically for these yard sign stakes.
